A Bench in the Clearing is the sister shawl to Into the Woods shawl pattern. The Into the Woods shawl pattern is all over lace in a laceweight yarn. Whereas this pattern, a Bench in the Clearing, is smaller and uses 4-ply/fingering weight yarn, as well as being worked in stocking stitch for a significant part before using the larger leaf motif from its big sister.
The triangular shape is created using yarn overs at the edges and on each side of a centre spine stitch. Use stitch markers as recommended to keep track of these.
The shawl is worked in rows but because there are a large number of stitches towards the end of the shawl, using a circular needle (working in rows) is recommended.
Pattern includes both written and charted instructions for the lace sections
